The County of San Diego Public Works Department is soliciting proposals for as-needed mowing and vegetation management services along County-maintained road rights-of-way within Roads Divisions I and II. Services include tractor and boom-arm mowing, string trimming, herbicide application (where applicable and with necessary permits), litter removal from mowed areas, and chipping/hauling of green waste. Work is issued on a task-order basis and must be completed within timeframes specified in each task order, typically within 5–10 business days of issuance. This contract replaces expiring Contracts #565703 and #565704.
• Commercial landscaping equipment sufficient for roadside mowing (tractor with boom arm or equivalent) • California QAL or QAC for herbicide application (if included in scope) • Storm Water Pollution Prevention compliance (mowing debris not to enter storm drains) • Traffic control per California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) • Flagger certification for all roadway work • Green waste hauled and legally disposed or chipped on-site • General Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate • Auto Liability: $1,000,000 • Workers' Compensation Insurance • Task-order completion within specified timeframe (typically 5–10 business days) • Digital photo documentation before/after each task order
Eligible applicants include landscape and vegetation management contractors licensed to perform commercial mowing and weed abatement in California. If herbicide application is proposed, a California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is required for the applicable pest control category.
