Each meal must meet minimum caloric and nutritional standards set by the Sheriff's Department dietary guidelines, be individually labeled with kosher certification, production date, and expiration date, and be delivered in quantities and on schedules specified by the Sheriff's Office. This contract replaces expiring Contract #562485.
• Valid Orthodox Union (OU) or equivalent kosher certification for all meal products • Double-sealed, tamper-evident packaging per Sheriff's Office specification • Vegetarian (no meat, poultry, or seafood) formulation • Minimum 1,500 calories per meal, meeting USDA dietary guidelines • Shelf life of at least 12 months from date of manufacture • Product labeling: kosher symbol, production date, expiration date, ingredient list, allergen statement • FDA food facility registration • HACCP food safety plan on file • Product samples required at time of bid submission • Delivery to Sheriff's facilities on a schedule established by the department • General Liability / Product Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 per occurrence
Eligible vendors include food manufacturers, distributors, or suppliers capable of providing kosher-certified, shelf-stable prepackaged meals in bulk quantities. The vendor must supply meals bearing valid Orthodox Union (OU) or equivalent nationally recognized kosher certification. Experience supplying correctional facilities or institutional food service operations is preferred.
